Training needs analysis
Nowadays, one of the growth factors of organizations is the actions that directly impact human resource development, for this reason, the expertise of technologies and equipment, the strengthening of skills, and the operation with sustainable standards become a keystone.
To achieve this, it is necessary to design a human development and training plan that allows identifying the training needs according to the organization's strategic plan.
Dominio Estudio is an experienced eLearning company that has developed a methodology that uses various sources of information. On the one hand, the organization's strategic plan, the human resources development plan, reports on the results of implemented training strategies, interviews, and surveys with the target population; on the other hand, review of studies and trends on the competencies required in a given field of knowledge and the experience of a subject matter expert.
Furthermore, the needs analysis includes the following components:
State of the art: This component is divided into two parts. A theoretical and a practical state of the art.
Theoretical state of the art: The team of instructional designers searches second-hand sources, master's theses and doctoral dissertations related to the topic to be developed. The purpose of this step is to establish the theoretical foundations on which the learning needs identified and the possible skills to be learned by the future participants are circumscribed.
Practical state of the art: It consists of receiving and analyzing information from the client, generally in the form of reports on previous experiences or face-to-face training. The results obtained are analyzed in terms of their relevance, didactic strategy or instructional method, and impact on the target group.
Qualitative analysis: Once the theoretical basis and the first curriculum proposal are clear, the contents are validated through an interview with a subject matter expert to improve the curriculum, as well as to propose didactic activities or instructional methods that will allow the contents to be expressed correctly.
Quantitative analysis: Subsequently, a survey is prepared for people interested in the topics, who meet the requirements of the target group. The questions inquire about the relevance of the topics, people's interest in them, and other topics to be included in the curriculum. Additionally, learning styles are indirectly inquired according to David Kolb's theory and categories of e-learning learning styles based on worldwide research.
